Andrew Stiles

Co-opted Governor

Andrew is the Link Governor for Disadvantaged (inc. Pupil Premium)

I was born and raised in Exeter and have worked for over 40 years in various roles across the City up to my semi-retirement, primarily in the areas of customer service, human resources, supply chain, change management and logistics.

I have been a school Governor at St Lukes for over 10 years and have a specific responsibility as a link governor for disadvantaged students as well as being the vice chair of governors.

I am a keen cyclist in my spare time and also support the Exeter City Community Trust as a race marshall for their various running events through the City as well as supporting the annual Great West Run in a similar role.

Ben Axon

Parent Governor

Ben is the Link Governor of Careers

I’m a Drainage Design Manager at Kier, responsible for leading the delivery of flood, water, and drainage design services across the UK. With nearly two decades of industry experience, I’m passionate about developing early-career professionals and have supported apprentices and graduates through to professional accreditation and top academic achievement. I’ve also mentored STEM teams who have gone on to win regional awards.

As a parent of four—with my eldest currently attending St. Luke’s—I’m invested in the school’s long-term success. I serve as the Careers Link Governor, working in partnership with staff to help ensure students leave school with the confidence, skills, and awareness they need to succeed in the world of work. I’m also an Award Verifier for the school’s fantastic Duke of Edinburgh’s programme, which I’m proud to support.

As a governor, I aim to provide both support and challenge—working collaboratively with the school and the Ted Wragg Trust to ensure high standards, ambitious goals, and a strong, inclusive culture where every student can thrive.

Harrison Littler

Headteacher/Ex-Officio

Harrison has spent 16 years working in secondary education, teaching Business and Economics and taking on various senior posts in schools. During a nine year period teaching in inner London, Harrison led a nationwide initial teacher training programme for one of the UK’s largest academy trusts. He has also developed and implemented models of instructional coaching for teachers in different settings. He is a passionate advocate for raising the attainment of economically disadvantaged young people.

Harrison also brings experience of the third sector and local government. He served as a board member of a large national UK campaigning organisation and charitable trust, and served a term as a local councillor in inner London. He has also served as a governor at two primary schools, including one in Exeter. He currently sits on the Board of Governors of Exeter College. An alumnus of Exeter University, Harrison graduated with a first class degree in Philosophy and Political Economy.

John Davey

Chair of Governors, Foundation Governor

John is the Link Governor for SEND

Prior to retirement I was the General Medical Council’s Regional Liaison Adviser in the south-west, working with doctors and medical students. Before this I spent 20 years working in schools and teacher education followed by leading careers services for children and young people across the south-west of England.

I am a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.

Away from work I am a member of a local church in Exeter.

Lucie Emmett

Staff Governor

Lucie is Head of Modern Foreign Languages at St Luke’s School. She has 3 grown-up children, all of whom went to Ted Wragg Trust schools, and the youngest of whom came to St Luke’s, so she understands the school from a parent’s perspective as well as that of a member of teaching staff. She has 2 dogs and 5 cats, and spends much of her free time vacuuming pet fur.

Mark Wadeley-Jones

Co-Opted Governor

Mark is the Link Governor for Safeguarding

I moved to Exeter 30 years ago and joined Devon & Cornwall Police, spending my 2-year probation in Exmouth and then moved to Exeter, before I retired in September 2024. I had many roles, including a Child Protection Detective and a Neighbourhood Sergeant. I currently still work with the Police as a financial investigator.

I have been a school Governor at St Lukes for over 4 years and have a specific responsibility as a link governor for safeguarding.

I am a keen football enthusiast and enjoy watching and playing (5 aside) when I can. I enjoy running and have recently managed to complete the London marathon in April 2025 raising funds for Force, a local Exeter Charity

Rev Matt Clayton

Foundation Governor

Rev Matt Clayton is the Chair of Ethos Committee

Matt is a Church of England priest and the leader of UNLTD Church, based in the heart of Exeter. He is passionate about seeing young people flourish and helping them discover their value and potential. He serves as Head of the Ethos Committee at St Luke’s, helping to support and shape the school’s distinctive values and culture.

He has been involved in a range of community initiatives and loves seeing the positive impact that schools like St Luke’s have in the city. Matt is also on the board of the Scouts and serves as their regional chaplain.

Outside of church life, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife, young kids, and friends — especially on the beach or around a barbecue. He’s a self-professed coffee nerd, extrovert, and people person.

Vivienne Findlay

Parent Governor

I was fortunate to have grown up in Zimbabwe. I went on to university in Kwa Zulu Natal, South Africa and then raised my own family in Johannesburg.

We emigrated to the UK nearly three years ago with our youngest child, a daughter, who is fortunate to attend St. Luke’s.

I have worked in rural development, urban renewal projects and latterly in human clinical trials for vaccine preventable disease burdens.

I have travelled extensively throughout Africa – for work and holiday. I have been privileged to see and experience many different lifestyles, customs and traditions.

In South Africa we live by the daily practice of ‘Ubuntu’.  Roughly translated this term describes the human qualities of compassion, mindfulness towards others and our humanity.

“I am what I am because of who we all are” and “A person is a person through other people”.

Another South African practice that describes who and how we are, is “it takes a village to raise a child”.

St Luke’s vision, mission and values resonated with me.

We feel it is important to give back something to our community and when I was approached to be a governor, I leapt wholeheartedly at the option.

I hope that I can import some of the  fabulousness of our African life and by being part of the governors’ team at St Luke’s I can show our gratitude to our adoptive country.
