St Luke’s Careers
At St Luke’s, we are committed to ensuring all students are ambitious for their futures and secure aspirational destinations when they leave us. Each year, students will learn about their opportunities and next steps and will be able to make informed decisions based on a range of information and guidance they will receive in Life to the Full Lessons; from visiting speakers; trips and visits and through our Futures Friday curriculum.
We regularly map what we do against the Gatsby Benchmarks to ensure that our students have a the depth and breadth of experiences they need to live life to the full after year 11.
Futures Friday was introduced in September 2022. Students in Years 7-10 take six modules across the year. The modules have been created in response to student and staff voice and aim to equip students with additional knowledge and skills to support them in their futures. Modules include:

- Role Models and Alumni
- Current Affairs
- Next Steps
- Digital Literacy

NEET, an acronym for “Not in Education, Employment, or Training”, refers to a person who is unemployed and not receiving an education or vocational training.

Our mission statement is for all students to achieve their personal best. In careers education this translates to every student making the right choices for their progression.
We support students in making well-informed decisions by providing access to differentiated, impartial and independent information and guidance about the range of options (including academic, vocational, apprenticeships) that are most likely to help them to achieve their ambitions.
By helping students with decisions at crucial stages, informing them of all their options and introducing them to the world of work, we aim to prepare them for the world of work whichever pathway they choose.
This page contains useful careers information and links to websites that students and parents/carers can use to research career ideas, find out about apprenticeships, local further education and higher education courses and entry requirements. Using the resources below will help students to research and make informed decisions about their post 16 plans.

By partnering with our school, you can play a valuable role in developing young people’s skills, confidence and aspirations.
We welcome employers from all industries to get involved in a range of activities throughout the year, including careers fairs, mock interviews, workplace visits, talks, workshops and work experience placements.
Working with our students not only gives young people insight into your sector, but also offers employers the chance to spot emerging talent, build community links and contribute to the development of the future workforce.
Whether you can offer an hour for a talk, a day for interviews or a longer placement, your involvement will make a real difference.
